When you hear someone mention “Tom Petty Tribute Band”, you immediately think of someone in a tacky blonde wig and a cheesy vocal performance with a fake, nasally-Bob Dylan type delivery. Well, that is not who Petty Thief is.

Petty Thief is a no frills rock band from Seattle, WA who meticulously encompass the Tom Petty sound and musically establish an emotional connection with the crowd that’s assembled. When asked why they didn’t take the impersonation and prop-driven approach, founder Andy Volmer says, “we wanted to approach the tribute genre as a true live rock and roll band, not a novelty act, and with the current lineup of the band, we have what no one else has - the most authentic and genuine sounding Tom Petty experience in the Pacific Northwest.”

The members of Petty Thief all come from a background of recording and touring with various successful cover, tribute and original bands and perform the music of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers with the same passion and dedication. They pay tireless attention to detail to each and every song they play, which appeals to both casual and diehard Tom Petty fans alike. Since the fall of 2021 when Andy Volmer, Steve Crabtree, Mark Mosholder, John Paredes and Rick Bourgoin first joined forces, they have been practicing and honing their sound. Petty Thief was originally formed back in 2007 by Andy Volmer as a spoof for a Halloween show, but 2022 will mark the 15th Anniversary of the band, and they are thrilled to be back out there, playing to the lovers of Tom Petty’s music.

If you want to experience Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers music there's only one band that can deliver that sound authentically. There's something happening...something that’s real rock n' roll, something the millions of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fans around the world need right now, more than ever. And its Petty Thief.

“Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things”
- Tom Petty (1950-2017)
